These detectors measure the change in temperature of an absorption layer. Therefore the signal just depends on the energy of the measured pulse and not on its duration (if it not exceeds 20 ms) or wavelength.
The spectral range covers approximately 190 nm .. 15 µm. The absorption layer is made of special, high damage threshold ceramics.

Additional equipment e. g. an oscilloscope is required to evaluate the detector head signals.
